Driver arrested for speeding near Germiston off-ramp

A 26-year-old male driver was arrested on Sunday, October 4, at 6.50am for clocking 179km/h

A 26-year-old male driver was arrested on Sunday, October 4 at 6.50am for clocking 179km/h in a VW Polo hatchback on the N12 eastbound near the Germiston off-ramp. This according to the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).

“The driver alleged that he was late for work,” said the CoE in a post on their Facebook page.

Five other drivers between the ages of 31 and 40 were also arrested after they were found driving at speeds of 164km/h, 166km/h, 167km/h,169km/h and 172km/h respectively in a 120km/h zone.

On Saturday, at 6.45am, another 26-year old-male motorist in a VW Polo was arrested after he was found driving 174km/h on the N12 eastbound in the Alberton area.

“All seven face charges of reckless and negligent driving and will appear in court soon.”
