WATCH Update: Landfill site still burns
“Teams of fire fighters are on site alternating shifts to contain the fire.”
The Simmer and Jack municipal landfill in Elandsfontein is still burning.

CoE stated that its disaster and emergency services officials are working around the clock to fight the blaze which has engulfed the landfill site since Tuesday afternoon.
“Teams of fire fighters are on site alternating shifts to contain the fire.”
According to Eric Maloka, media liaison for DEMS, the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
“The fire is being managed by 10 fire stations from two districts on a rotational basis.
“Investigators are working on the scene to determine the cause,“ said Maloka.
The facility is closed until further notice.
