Totus Tuus School excited about new property

The school opened its doors with the help of a local businessman Mark Leisher, who agreed for the school to use the property rent free.

Schools reopened their doors to the majority of the learners, but for Totus Tuus Independent School in Lambton it was a different story. The learners were stepping into the school in a new property for the very first time on August 26.

The school opened its doors with the help of a local businessman Mark Leisher, who agreed for the school to use the property rent free. He said he was inspired to help the school because of the support the founder of the school and her staff give to learners.

“The school rents one of my properties in Primrose and was planning to expand. After spending some time with the school, I was impressed,” said Leisher.

“The property in Lambton is where my mother grew up and having the school there means so much because of the love my mom had for children.”

Petro vd Berg, the founder of the school, said she is humbled by and happy about the support from Leisher.

The school was established in 2013 and education has always been her passion.

“When I started the school I had only 16 children. I took over from an existing independent school and I was not sure what the journey would hold, but I believe this is my calling,” she said.

In 2015, the school achieved a 100 per cent matric pass rate and was awarded a certificate of merit from the Department of Basic Education.

She said with the new building in Lambton, she is excited and looking forward to touching more young lives.
