Rand Refinery supporting local schools

Rand Refinery met with principals and members of the Department of Education for a handover ceremony of personal protective equipment (PPE) to benefit schools in the Ekurhuleni area.

Rand Refinery met with principals and members of the Department of Education on August 28 for a handover ceremony of personal protective equipment (PPE) to benefit schools in the Ekurhuleni area.

The PPE in question was completely funded by the company’s executive committee.

According to Dean Subramanian, chief financial officer, education is something that lies close to the heart of Rand Refinery.

“This is a great opportunity for a great partnership and to leave a legacy,” said Subramanian.

He said that it is there hope that this partnership will continue and that they in the future can be of further help to the schools, their learners and their teachers.

Peter Arendse, principal of Oosrand Secondary School, thanked Rand Refinery for the generous donation on behalf of the schools.

“We deeply appreciate you helping to keep our learners and teachers safe,” said Arendse. ‘

Steve Maboa, chief education specialist for Ekurhuleni, also thanked Rand Refinery for the donation.

“As a country we need the partnership. We need to give people hope,” he said.
