Dealers busted by EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit

The unit arrested five men and two women allegedly involved in dealing drugs in Katlehong and Daveyton on August 20 and during the early hours of August 21.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit arrested five men and two women allegedly involved in dealing drugs in Katlehong and Daveyton on August 20 and during the early hours of August 21.

EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Kobeli Mokheseng said different types of narcotics worth almost R9 000 were confiscated.

“At 9pm in Palmridge, the EMPD’s drug squad, patrolling Tsietsi informal settlement in Phase 5 apprehended a man (26) found in in the possession of 22 zip locks packets of dagga, 18 Mandrax tablets and seven knotted plastics of Nyaope worth R2 500. They also found R1 530 in cash,” said Mokheseng.

“On August 21 in Daveyton, officers cornered and arrested two women and four men at Daveyton Hostel after they received a tip-off from the public.

“Officers found the suspects in possession of 18 ziplock packets of dagga, 65 pieces of a rock substance, 55 knotted plastics of Nyaope, about 10 Mandrax tablets valued at R5 960 and R647 in cash,” said Mokheseng.

“The seven face charges of resisting arrest, possession and possible dealing in narcotics. They are expected to appear in the Palmridge and Daveyton magistrate’s courts.”
