Buhle Park library becomes a reality

The opening of the library marked the final day of Youth Month.

The DA in Ekurhuleni donated a books and other equipment to establish a library at Buhle Park Secondary School on June 30.

The DA team consisting of Clr Kade Guerreiro, MP Michelle Clarke, Shadow MEC for Education Khume Ramulifho, and DA Youth Leader MP Luyolo Mphithi officially handed over the donations to the principal.

“The school has been trying to establish a library for years to no avail. We were proud to make this a reality, which promises to be a positive influence on learning outcomes for the students and the community at large,” said Guerreiro.

He said they are grateful for all the people who came on board to help with the donations.

Buhle Park Secondary school library was officially opened on June 30.

“The library has now become a reality thanks to the efforts by the DA, and the generosity of organisations, businesses and private donors all over the province, who donated over 15 000 books, as well as tables, chairs and shelves,” said Guerreiro.

The opening of the library marked the final day of Youth Month.

“The opening of the library was an appropriate occasion to reflect on the youth of 1976, as well as on our current education system, where less than 10 per cent of schools in South Africa have functional libraries.

“Libraries play a critical role in providing students with access to information so that they can excel academically and ultimately uplift their communities,” said Guerreiro.
