KATLEHONG: Five injured in a two-vehicle collision

Local authorities were on the scene, according to the spokesperson.

A bakkie and light motor vehicle collided on the corner of Kliprivier Drive and Rivett-Carnett Street in Katlehong during the night of July 5.

According to ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen, one person sustained serious injuries and four others sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 9pm to find another medical service already at the scene treating one of the patients.

“Upon further assessment, paramedics found the patient had sustained serious injuries.”

The ER24 spokesperson said the patient was treated with advanced life support interventions at the scene before being airlifted with a helicopter to hospital for further medical care.

“Four other people found to have sustained injuries were assessed and treated at the scene.

“ER24 transported one of the patients to hospital for further medical care.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not known to our paramedics.”
