Weekend operations lead to 15 arrests

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.She urged the men in the community to protect women and children.

Fifteen suspects were arrested in the Katlehong area during several weekend operations.

The operations, held between June 26 and 28, were carried out by officers from the Katlehong Police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD.

The suspects were charged with various offences.Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, possession of an unlicensed firearm, malicious damage to property, intimidation, shoplifting and Contravening the Disaster Management Act (Covid-19 Act).

All of the arrested suspects were held at the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

During their appearances their cases were postponed for various reasons. Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests. She urged the men in the community to protect women and children.
