Katlehong SAPS arrest 15 suspects in weekend operations

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

During several weekend operations, 15 suspects were arrested in the Katlehong area.

The operations held between June 26 and 28 were carried out by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD in several different areas within Katlehong.

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, possession of an unlicensed firearm, malicious damage to property, intimidation, shoplifting and Contravening the Disaster Management Act (Covid-19 Act).

All of the arrested suspects were held at the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

During their appearances their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.

She urged the men in the community to protect women and children.
