Katlehong SAPS arrests 18 suspects in weekend operations

Katlehong police share their weekend arrest statistics.

Eighteen suspects were arrested in the Katlehong area during several weekend operations.

The operations, held between June 12 and 14, were carried out by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong SAPS and members of the EMPD in several different areas within Katlehong.

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, shoplifting, malicious damage to property, possession of suspected stolen copper, dealing in drugs, possession of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol and contravening the Disaster Management Act (Covid-19 Act).

All of the arrested suspects were held at the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

During their appearances their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.
