Hungry families in Ward 36 receive a helping hand

Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan helps families in need in her ward, with the help of the Primrose police and the Department of Social Development.

Thirty hungry families from Ward 36 were grateful to receive some relief from the hardship brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic in the form of food parcels.

The parcels were handed out by Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan and the Department of Social Development, with the help of officers from the Primrose Police Station.

“During the proceedings, all precautionary measures announced by the government to prevent the spread of the virus were followed,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“Mask wearing and social distancing were practised and no large numbers of people were allowed to gather.

“Instead, community members were supplied with coupons with the specified time at which one member of the family could come and collect the food parcel.

“We hope this initiative helped our community during this difficult time and we hope more people will still benefit from this initiative.”
