Man allegedly attacked without provocation

The Primrose police apprehended a suspect on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

While on a walk in the Delport informal settlement recently, a man claimed he was allegedly attacked by a 30-year-old man.

“The victim, who suffered serious injuries to the upper body, claimed the suspect hit him with an unknown object without provocation,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The victim needed medical attention following the altercation.”

The incident was reported to the Primrose police.

“Officers were able to trace and arrest the suspect on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm,” said Maome.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
