Officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit took to the streets of Katlehong on Wednesday in a stop-and-search operation.
The operation ended in the arrest of eight suspects.
The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included:
• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3
• Common assault: 2
• House robbery: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Shoplifting: 1
All of the arrested suspects were held at the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.
She urged the community to protect their children and to be a good example to them.
“Let us protect our children,” she said.
