Katlehong SAPS continue to clamp down on criminals in their precinct

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

Twelve suspects were arrested in Katlehong during several weekend operations.

The operations, held between May 29 and 31, were carried out by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime

Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD in several different areas within Katlehong,

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included:

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3

• Shoplifting: 3

• Common assault: 1

• Fraud: 1

• Theft: 1

• Contravening the Disaster Management Act (Covid-19 Act): 3

All of the arrested suspects were held at the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.

She called on the community to join the fight against crime.

“Parents need to set a good example for their children,” she said.
