Tzu-chi Foundation shows support for hungry families in Makause and Delport

Makause and Delport informal settlement families receive help from the Buddhist compassion relief Tzu-chi Foundation South Africa.

The Buddhist compassion relief Tzu-chi Foundation South Africa recently donated 120 food parcels to needy families from the Makause and Delport informal settlements.

The foundation made the donation to help the community face the struggles brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station assisted during the handout.

“During the handout, all precautionary measures announced by the government to prevent the spread of the virus were followed,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“Mask wearing and social distancing were practised and no large numbers of people were allowed to gather.

“Instead, community members were supplied with coupons with the specified time at which one member of the family could come and collect the food parcel.”

Maome thanked everyone involved in making the handover a success.
