Here are some tips to remember:

• Ensure your card is returned following a sale or ATM transaction and that it is your card and not a clone or copy.

• Never accept help from any person at an ATM, not even from security officers or bank officials. Go inside the bank and ask for help if you need it.

• If anyone tries to disturb or interfere with you while you are transacting at the ATM, your card could be skimmed, cancel the transaction immediately and report the incident using your bank’s stop card toll-free number or report the incident to the bank directly.

• Use your hand as a shield when you are typing in your PIN so that nobody can see it, not only at the ATM but also when using your card to make payments at retailers or restaurants.

• When you are shopping online, ensure orders are only placed through secure websites.

• Never send an email that quotes your card number, the expiry date and the CVV number.

• If your card is retained at an ATM, do not leave the ATM before cancelling the card.
