Roseacres’ safety measures aim to keep patients, doctors, staff and visitors safe

A reminder of what to expect when visiting Life Roseacres Hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown continues the community is reminded of the safety measures that have been put in place to keep patients, doctors, staff and visitors safe at Life Roseacres Hospital.

The safety measures also aim to limit the potential spread of infection.

Important hospital information to be aware of:

1. Infection prevention measures at doctors’ consultation rooms may include:

• Spacing between waiting room chairs.

• Frequent hand sanitising.

• Healthcare workers’ use of face masks and shields, gowns and gloves.

• Restrictions on accompaniment to consultation rooms.

• Special consent forms regarding the unusual circumstances and increased overall risk linked to the Covid-19 outbreak.

• More frequent telephonic rather than in-person consultations.

2. Routine screening of all people entering the hospital’s facilities to identify present signs and symptoms of Covid-19 infection to establish the risk of exposure.

3. Restricted visiting hours and access to all Life Healthcare facilities:

• All visiting hours for general wards, ICU and high care units have been suspended.

• Nurseries and neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) – one parent at a time will be allowed to visit newborns, the parent will be subject to strict screening criteria prior to hospital admission.

• Paediatric wards – only one parent at a time will be permitted to sleep-in with an admitted paediatric patient. The parent will be subject to strict screening criteria prior to hospital admission.

• Critically ill patients – visitors will be allowed, by exception, and only with the consent of the hospital manager. Visitors will be subject to strict screening criteria and will be expected to wear a mask for the duration of the visit.

4. Universal masking – all healthcare workers, employees, outsourced services and people entering/admitted to the facility are required to wear a mask at all times.

5. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided to all employees and doctors in line with clinical standards. Employees are trained on the appropriate use of PPEs.

6. Social distancing will be enforced throughout all areas of all Life Healthcare facilities.

7. Environmental cleaning in accordance to infection prevention standards will be carried out; surfaces will be regularly disinfected.

8. Continuous education – education will be provided to community members regarding the importance of hand hygiene, coughing etiquette and maintaining social distancing as effective measures to limit the spread of infection.
