Ward 42 councillor remembered

The ANC Ekurhuleni caucus sent messages of condolence to the family of Ward 42 councillor Eva Ngcwama.

The ANC Ekurhuleni caucus has learnt with sadness of the death of Ward 42 councillor Eva Ngcwama.

Ngcwama died last Thursday morning after a short illness.

“We in this moment of grief convey our deepest and heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and comrades, as well as to the many community members whose lives were affected by Ngcwama,” said Thabang Mashiyane, ANC media officer.

“Ngcwama was down to earth and hard-working, with a long history of community service.

“Sadly, she departed while we are still battling against an invisible enemy, the coronavirus.

“However, we strongly believe her immense contribution will serve as a reminder to all of us that we must not shift from our core responsibility as public representatives and we should serve our people with diligence.”

Before her death, Ngcwama served as a member of a number of Section 79 oversight committees, including the Environment and Waste Management and Economic Development oversight committees.

“As we remember Ngcwama, we also want to urge our communities to adhere to regulations as stipulated by government as we soldier on in the fight against Covid-19,” said Mashiyane.

“We thank her family for allowing us to share her life with the rest of the community of Ward 42, especially the City of Ekurhuleni.”
