Police, CPF and youth desk join forces during lockdown

Gauteng Provincial Crime Prevention Youth Desk members made sure community members adhered to social distancing rules during lockdown.

During the national lockdown members of the Gauteng Provincial Crime Prevention Youth Desk were called upon to help ensure the community adhered to social distancing rules.

The members recently assisted the Germiston SAPS and the Germiston Station CPF at the Germiston Post Office and SuperSpar Southern in Webber Road, as well as the Golden Walk Shopping Centre.

Ntuthuzelo Mpambani, the Gauteng Provincial Crime Prevention Youth Desk chairperson, explained that though there were many people out at their designated checkpoints they complied with the lockdown rules and regulations.

“We also took the time to educate the community about lockdown and the importance of the activity and its function,” said Mpambani.

Mpambani admitted he had mixed feelings about being out in the community during lockdown.

“I was nervous and excited at the same time,” he said.

“I was nervous to be infected, but I was excited to be out assisting and teaching our people about the disease and saving their lives.”
