Law enforcement works together to keep the streets safe

Twelve suspects were arrested in Katlehong as part of Operation Okae Molao last Thursday.

Officers from the Katlehong Police Station, members of the EMPD and members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) were deployed to the streets of Katlehong last Thursday as part of Operation Okae Molao.

The focus of the operation was to target those contravening the Disaster Management Act (Covid-19 Act).

Twelve suspects were arrested and charged with contravening the Act.

While another suspect was arrested on the suspicion of being an illegal immigrant.

Two gambling machines, hair salon products, cigarettes and snuff were seized by officers during the operation.

Police also took time to educate the community about the Covid-19 pandemic with special focus on the safety and precautionary steps that should be taken during this time.
