Five men arrested in Delville following robbery

The Germiston SAPS Task Team apprehended four suspects on a charge of robbery and another on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

While on a recent patrol in Delville, members of the Germiston SAPS Task Team received a lookout over the police radio.

They were alerted to four suspects who had allegedly robbed three pedestrians of their cellphones.

“Using the descriptions given, the police began looking for the suspects and soon spotted the men matching the descriptions,” said Const Maxwell Mabunda.

“The suspects were found in front of a local shop where they were allegedly trying to sell the cellphones to a person at the store. All five men were arrested.”

The four suspects were arrested on a charge of robbery, while the fifth suspect was arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

“During the arrest a pistol and three rounds of ammunition were found in the possession of one of the suspects.

“The suspects, aged between 23 and 27 years old, were taken to the Germiston Police Station where they will be held pending their appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court,” said Mabunda.
