Helping businesses cope during lockdown

The weekly webinar is aimed at coming up with ideas for businesses.

If there is one strong message that is getting across to entrepreneurs and owners of SMME’s during the Hirsch’s and Marlene Powell webinars that are being rolled out on a weekly basis, it’s this – life must go on and we need to keep moving forward.

Margaret Hirsch, who opened last Friday’s webinar session, said, “Winners never quit and quitters never win.

“We just have to keep finding new, innovative ways to keep our businesses on track and viable.”

Get Legal During Lockdown is the title of the next webinar which will take place on May 1, between 11am and noon.

Margaret and Marlene will include a group of panellists who will be discussing the legalities of getting back into business during the different alert levels as laid down by the government.

Guest panellists at the last webinar included Allegro Dinkwanyane, a young award-winning businesswoman who has owned her own marketing company, Orgello Media, for the last eight years.

Allegro spoke about the importance of building a solid digital strategy and moving digitally to stay connected.

Connecting live online is important, she explained.

Retail marketing manager for SMEG Ana Sotero said that there was so much free online help being offered for businesses that people should tap into, and they should also seriously consider making use of everything on offer to help their businesses survive.

Business owner Sharin Pillay from National NDT Services who has attended the Hirsch’s and Marlene Powell workshops on a regular basis said that having gone through incredibly difficult times when she took over the family business after her husband passed away, she has seen the importance of making contingency plans, and that is exactly what is required at this time.

She also stressed the importance of not wallowing in self-pity and building relationships and a sound network of allies.

Master licensee in SA for ActionCOACH Harry Welby-Cooke said that one of the most important messages that he wants to get across at this time is to look at what we have and not at what we don’t have.

“Gratitude helps.

“Acknowledge your pain, don’t desert people.

“Things will get better.

It’s not going to business as usual for a while,” he said.
