Bertha Gxowa Hospital implements strict access protocols

Bertha Gxowa Hospital implements several new measures to help combat the spread of Covid-19.

“In a bid to control access to the Bertha Gxowa Hospital and to allow us the opportunity to screen each and every individual entering the facility we have implemented several new access protocols.”

These were the words of Thabile Mkhatshwa, communications and public relations officer for the hospital.

“These measures have been put in place to try and ensure that our staff and the community are kept safe during this epidemic,” she said.

The new measures include:

• The hospital is now required to do a daily screening of all staff and members of the public entering the hospital.

• All guests and staff entering the hospital need to enter through the main entrance.

• It is mandatory to be screened before entering the hospital.

• Members of the public and staff are required to cooperate with screening personnel and security.

• Access of locked areas for waste removal and other support services will be facilitated by security.

“These are some of the measures we have put in place to ensure we help stop the rapid spread of the disease,” said Mkhatshwa.

“Security personnel will be strategically placed to assist.

“Members of the public are expected to comply and provide their contact details and other personal information for tracing purposes during screening.”
