Tip-off leads Katlehong police to four suspects

Katlehong SAPS apprehended four suspects, between the ages of 35 and 51, all on a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.

Working with the community of Katlehong South yielded results for the Katlehong police recently when they arrested four suspects, each on a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.

The four suspects, aged between 35 and 51, were arrested after the police received a tip-off from the community as to where they were hiding.

“Police immediately went to the address given where they found an Isuzu bakkie parked inside the yard that had been reported stolen in a house robbery in Meyerton,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe.

“They first arrested three suspects.

“As the police were leaving to take them to the Katlehong Police Station the suspects pointed out a grey Jeep, which they claimed was used during the house robbery.

“In the vehicle police found a car radio which had been taken from the stolen Isuzu bakkie.

“The Jeep’s 51-year-old owner was also arrested.”

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza was pleased with the arrests and applauded the members involved.

“Following this arrest we have begun investigating allegations that community members are hiring out their vehicles to criminals to commit crimes and sell stolen goods,” said Ndobe.

All of the suspects will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
