Just hours before the national lockdown came into effect, last Thursday, a team from the Primrose Police Station visited the Makause informal settlement to teach residents more about Covid-19.

This was the team’s second visit to the informal settlement.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station and members of the Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Youth Desk once again distributed 3 000 safety tip and educational pamphlets to the community and explained more about the virus.

They also handed out 100 bottles of sanitisers and 100 bars of soap, donated by the Primrose CPF.

“We hope the community will use these items wisely to help stop the spread of Covid-19,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“Our informal settlements remain high-risk areas as the shacks are so close to one another.

“We believe educating the community can help in reducing the risk of spreading the virus.”
