Katlehong SAPS arrest 11 over first lockdown weekend

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

During the first weekend of lockdown officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD took to the streets of Katlehong in several weekend operations.

The operations were held throughout the precinct between March 27 and 29, and led to the arrest of 11 suspects.

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included murder, attempted murder, common assault, domestic violence, house break-in and theft, possession of an unlicensed firearm, theft, shoplifting and possession of drugs.

All of the arrested suspects were held at the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza assured the community that the officers from the Katlehong Police Station are doing all they can to protect the community during this uncertain time.
