Woman allegedly strangled and stabbed by boyfriend

Primrose police apprehended a suspect on a charge of domestic violence.

A Delport informal settlement woman recently fled from her boyfriend after an alleged incident of domestic violence.

The woman told Primrose police that she had been home with her two children when her 58-year-old boyfriend arrived home from a local tavern.

“He was allegedly drunk,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“He reportedly ordered her and the children to leave as they were damaging the shack.

“She tried to explain that they were not damaging the shack and that it was a leak in the roof which she had tried to fix.

“He allegedly grabbed her by the throat and began strangling her.

“She further claimed that he attempted to take a sharp object from a drawer, but was stopped by their daughter.”

The suspect allegedly did find a fork and stabbed the victim in the upper body with it.

“The victim claimed she managed to escape and ran away,” said Maome.

“While she was running the suspect allegedly threw rocks at her, but he was stopped by a neighbour.”

While police were opening the case the suspect arrived at the station and he was arrested.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where the case was postponed for plea and trial.
