Concerned community member brings baby to police, mother arrested

Primrose police arrested a 22-year-old woman on a charge of child neglect.

A concerned community member recently brought a baby to the Primrose Police Station.

“He told officers in the station’s charge office that he had found the baby, believed to be about a year old, at around 1pm that afternoon,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“However, when he could not find the mother by 6pm, he brought the child to the police.”

One of the officers recognised the child as the mother had reportedly been to the station earlier that day to open a domestic violence case.

“Officers visited the address the 22-year-old woman had given them when opening her case,” said Maome.

“However, they found no one at home.

“Police were able to trace the woman to a local tavern, which she was at with her four-year-old child.

“When questioned by police she allegedly did not know where her child was.”
