Primrose police apprehend a 33-year-old suspect on a charge of domestic violence.

A Delport informal settlement woman was allegedly assaulted by her 33-year-old boyfriend recently.

“The victim, who managed to free herself from the attack and call police, explained to officers she went to a nearby veld to collect firewood and when she returned her boyfriend accused her of cheating,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

After the brief argument the man left and went to visit his brothers.

“When he returned later that evening he reportedly continued to accuse the complainant of cheating and would not allow her to explain where she was earlier that day,” said Maome.

“He allegedly began to assault her, hitting her with his open hands on her face.

“He reportedly also hit her with a plastic cold drink bottle.”
