EMPD DEU arrests four with narcotics in Dukathole

EMPD DEU officers arrested four people in an anti-drug operation.

During an anti-drug operation in Dukathole on Wednesday, between 8pm and 9.30pm, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) arrested two couples in possession of narcotics worth almost R2 000, as well as cash.

The DEU members cornered one suspicious couple, aged 34 and 49 years, at 8.30pm in Silani Street.

They seized 26 ziplock bags of dagga valued at R1 200 and R12 740 in cash.

Meanwhile, on van Leenen Street at 9.15pm another couple, aged 25 and 28 years, were handcuffed after officers uncovered 16 knotted plastic bags containing nyaope, valued at R600 and R272.50 in cash.

“All four of the arrested suspects were marched to Germiston Police Station,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.

“The lawbreakers, who are facing charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances, are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.”
