Public cannot attend today’s SOCA due to Covid-19 pandemic

All public viewing areas have been cancelled, but the speech will be broadcast on various media channels.

Executive mayor of Ekurhuleni Mzwandile Masina has announced precautionary measures for this year’s State of the City Address (SOCA) in line with the current coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The SOCA is due to take place in the Germiston Council Chambers today, March 18, at 10am.

“After careful consultation with community services officials regarding the health and safety of everyone set to attend the SOCA, it has been decided to cancel all SOCA public viewing areas and restrict the attendance of guests at the event,” Masina said.

The SOCA will be livestreamed on the metro’s Facebook page and on their Twitter feed and residents are urged to use the metro’s free Wi-Fi services to stream the speech on the various digital platforms.
