Katlehong SAPS pounce on criminals in their precinct

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

Officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD took to the streets of Katlehong in several weekend operations.

The operations were held throughout the precinct between March 13 and 15, and led to the arrest of 36 suspects.

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included attempted murder, rape, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, possession of a suspected hijacked vehicle, malicious damage to property, theft, shoplifting, violation of a protection order, possession of drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza was pleased with the arrests made, but was concerned by the sexual crimes that pose a threat to women.
