Police tackle problem crimes in Marlands

Officers from the Primrose Police Station and members of the Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Youth Desk addressed crime issues in Marlands.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station and members of the Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Youth Desk visited Marlands on Thursday to address several crime issues in the area.

Burglaries and theft of motor vehicles remain a problem for the Primrose police.

To address these concerning crime trends, they held a door-to-door awareness campaign which aimed to sensitise the community.

“The aim of the campaign was to sensitise residents within the sector to the problem crimes,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“We are still appealing to our community not to park on pavements or where vehicles are unattended.

“We urge them to invite their visitors to park inside their yards, even if they are only visiting for a short period of time.”

A number of safety-tip pamphlets were handed out which the police hope the community will read and take to heart.

The community is urged to report any suspicious or illegal activities to the Primrose police by calling 011 842 0522 or calling the patrol vehicles on 071 675 6864/5/6/7/8/9.
