Primrose police apprehended a suspect on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

“Officers travelled to the address given where they met the suspect,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The police asked for permission to search the shack and were reportedly told by the suspect that they would find nothing in the shack.”

During the search officers found a black firearm, which was a little rusted and loaded with live ammunition.

“Officers then searched the suspect and found another seven rounds of live ammunition in the pocket of the trousers he was wearing,” said Maome.

The suspect was asked to produce a firearm licence, but was unable to do so.

He was arrested.
