Katlehong North police share their weekend arrest statistics.

The Katlehong North SAPS continued their efforts to curb crime in their precinct.

Officers from the Katlehong North Police Station arrested 20 suspects during several weekend operations.

The suspects were arrested for various offences.

Charges included possession of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of dagga, malicious damage to property, shoplifting and dealing in drugs.

During the operations a 25-year-old woman was arrested on a charge of child neglect, after community members found her seven-month-old baby left alone.

“The baby was brought to the police station, after which police took the baby to a place of safety,” said Capt Lesetja Mathobela, communications officer for the Katlehong North police.

Five illegal taverns were also closed by police during the weekend operations.

The community is urged to get involved in the fight against crime by reporting criminal or suspicious activity to their nearest police station or to Crime Stop by calling 08600 10111.
