ALERT: Loadshedding bumped up to stage four

Make sure you are prepared for more loadshedding, as Eskom announces loadshedding will continue for most of the week.

Eskom has announced that loadshedding will be bumped up to stage four this afternoon morning (March 10).

The company said in a statement that loadshedding needed to be implemented due to a number of unexpected breakdowns.

The company stated that, regrettably, loadshedding was likely to continue for the rest of the week as there have been delays in returning some generation units to service.

Stage two calls for 2000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period.
Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system

The power utility appeals to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period.
Please switch off geysers, as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.
Customers are reminded to treat all electrical points as live during loadshedding.
