Elsburg police celebrate conviction

The Elsburg police’s Det WO Isaac Langa was applauded for his hard work and dedication which helped secure the conviction of Clinton White.

Clinton White was recently sentenced to 23 years direct imprisonment in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

He was found guilty of robbery and sentenced to 10 years, attempted murder and sentenced to seven years, malicious damage to property and sentenced to five years and possession of drugs and sentenced to 12 months.

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

White was arrested by the Elsburg police’s Det WO Isaac Langa after a case of hijacking was opened against the accused.

“The victim of the crime gave police a clear description of White and of the vehicle he had taken,” explained Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“The vehicle was later found burnt on the N17 highway near the Rondebult Road off-ramp by officers and they tracked the accused to a nearby house.

“He was arrested in possession of the victim’s wallet and cellphone.

“Drugs were also found in his possession.”

Elsburg SAPS station commander Col Linah Thethe applauded and thanked Langa and all the officers who contributed and worked together to secure the conviction.

“Let us uphold and protect the fundamental rights of every person in our country,” said Thethe.
