Children sensitised about crime issues in their area

Primrose police visit Primrose Hill Primary School during their back-to-school campaign.

The Primrose police continued their back-to-school campaign recently with a visit to Primrose Hill Primary School.

During the visit officers spoke to the children about problem crimes in their area and taught them more about the effects of bullying, as well as the consequences of stealing and other illegal activities.

The learners were also introduced to Sgt Precious Ntuli who will be the school’s Adopt-a-Cop.

“Due to the high number of violent acts and criminal activities in Gauteng schools the Gauteng, SAPS instructed all police stations to launch the Adopt-a-Cop initiative,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The police official at each school will work with the school’s principal and governing body to try and solve some of the challenges the school is facing.

“The officer will also deal with issues relating to the safety of the school.”

Before leaving, police urged the learners to promote a safer learning environment.

The management of the school thanked the police for their visit.
