Busy weekend for Katlehong police

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

Twenty-one suspects were arrested in the Katlehong precinct between February 7 and 9

The arrests were made by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD, during a number of stop-and-search operations and roadblocks in the area.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included rape, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, house break-in and theft, interfering with police duties, theft, shoplifting, reckless and negligent driving, dealing in drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza was pleased with the arrests made.

She called on residents to report crime as soon as it happens to help combat crime in the precinct.
