“The victim told police the pair were on the corner of Pretoria and Barbara roads, Primrose, when they began to argue,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“During the argument, the suspect allegedly began assaulting the victim.

The man was arrested and taken the Primrose Police Station.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.

“We remind our community that assaulting someone is a criminal offence and with the national outcry surrounding domestic violence, it is not a crime the police take lightly,” said Maome.

“We urge the community to seek help when they are experiencing trouble in their relationships and not to resort to violence.”
