Man arrested for alleged kidnapping

Primrose police apprehend man on charge of kidnapping.

While walking in the Makause informal settlement recently a woman was allegedly approached by a 27-year-old man and a woman.

“The victim reportedly knew the man, but had never seen the woman before,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The pair allegedly grabbed the woman and took her to the male suspect’s shack.

“The suspect allegedly locked the woman in his shack and begun to profess his love to her,” said Maome.

“She told the suspect she already had a boyfriend and was pregnant.

“He allegedly kept her locked in the shack and demanded she have sex with him, when she refused he allegedly assaulted her with an open hand.”

After being locked in the shack for more than a day, the victim asked the suspect if she could use the toilet.

“She used this opportunity to escape and reported the incident to police,” said Maome.

Using the description given by the victim, officers from the Primrose Police Station were able to trace and arrest the suspect.

He was arrested on a charge of kidnapping.

The suspect has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
