Germiston Flying Squad recovers two vehicles, arrests two

Germiston Flying Squad members are working hard in their precinct.

Members of Germiston Flying Squad arrested two men and recovered two motor vehicles in Katlehong and Vosloorus, respectively, last Friday.

The first vehicle recovered was a red Toyota Corolla which was stolen in Benoni last Thursday.

Officers recovered the vehicle in Moshoeshoe Section, Katlehong, where it had been stripped at a panel beaters.

“The investigation is continuing and an arrest will be made soon,” said Const Ntombikayise Ngcobo, the communications officer for the Germiston Flying Squad.

In an another incident on the same day, flying squad members arrested two men on a charge of possession of stolen motor vehicle in Makgalemele Street, Vosloorus.

The vehicle had been hijacked on January 25 in Actonville.

It is alleged that one of the suspects arrested was the seller and the other was the buyer.

“The suspect who was driving the vehicle informed the police that he had bought it from the man who was the passenger in the vehicle,” said Ngcobo.

The arrested suspects, aged between 24 and 45 years, will appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court.

The seized vehicles were taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni.

“Members of the public, who are becoming an essential partner in the fight against crime, are encouraged to continue to report crime and criminals to the police by visiting their nearest police station or calling the Crime Stop number (08600 10111),” said Ngcobo.

“The community is urged to work hand in hand with the police.”

Germiston Flying Squad commander Lt Col Madimetja Kgole thanked the members for their hard work.

“Well done to our members for taking the safety and security of our community to heart,” he said.
