Man arrested for alleged assault

Primrose police apprehended a 27-year-old man for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

While out with friends, last Friday, a man was allegedly assaulted during a heated argument with a 27-year-old suspect.

“The complainant told police that the suspect approached them and started an argument,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“During the argument the man allegedly assaulted the victim with a beer bottle.

“The victim sustained serious injuries to the upper body and had to be taken to hospital.”

Once he had received treatment for his injuries the complainant reported the incident to the Primrose police.

Using the description given by the victim officers were able to trace and arrest the suspect.

He was arrested on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
