Pedestrian falls off bridge onto highway after being knocked over in Meadowdale

ER24 paramedics responded to the scene of an accident.

A male pedestrian was killed after he was knocked over on Edenvale Road in Meadowdale on Wednesday evening.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 6pm, they found the man lying in the middle of the R24 highway and another medical service was already in attendance.

Upon further assessment, it was found that the patient was in a critical condition.

Despite paramedics’ best efforts, the patient succumbed to his multiple injuries and was declared dead on the scene.

“It is understood that the man was knocked over on Edenvale Road on the bridge before falling over the railing onto the highway,” said Ineke van Huyssteen, ER24 spokesperson.

“The exact circumstances were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene.”
