Lesufi met with residents at the Khuthalo Hostel Hall, Dukathole Extension Eight, on Tuesday evening.

This was his third visit to the area this week after visiting the family of the slain teenager on Sunday, when he first found out about her murder.

He also visited Jansen’s school, Graceland Education Centre, on Monday in search of answers.

“No one could tell me why the school was not aware that a learner was not at school on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

“The school was not aware.

“A parent comes to the school to say my child is missing and all that is said is go to the police station.

“There are no answers as to why the school didn’t assist further or follow-up when the learner still wasn’t there on Friday,” said Lesufi after visiting the school.

It has since been announced that the school’s principal, Patricia Peters, has been removed from the school with immediate effect.

“Peters has been removed from the school with immediate effect until the investigation of circumstances surrounding the death of Jansen is complete,” said a statement issued by the Gauteng Department of Education.

“She will report to the district office today (January 29).”

Lesufi further said he had spoken to the school’s governing body (SGB).

“I said to the SGB something of this nature cannot happen under your watch and you are not aware,” said Lesufi.

Lesufi also announced that the contract of the scholar transport service provider accused of leaving learners behind last Wednesday would be terminated.

“A new scholar transport service provider has been appointed to transport learners to and from school effectively,” said Lesufi.

During the meeting, Lesufi urged the community to act and help the Jansen family get justice.

“We need to act and act with speed,” said Lesufi.

“We cannot sleep peacefully at night when the Jansen family does not know who killed their daughter.

“We can’t pretend it is business as usual, while someone among us is killing our children.

“We can’t fold our arms and say as long as it is not my child I do not care because next time it might be your child.”

This is a developing story and more details will be released as they become available.
