Busy weekend for Katlehong police

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

Thirty-five suspects were arrested in the Katlehong precinct between January 17 and 19.

The arrests were made by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD, during a number of stop-and-search operations and roadblocks in the area.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, malicious damage to property, business burglary, interfering with police duties, shoplifting, reckless and negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza was pleased with the arrests made, but concerned with the number of motorists still driving under the influence of alcohol in the area.
