Katlehong SAPS investigates alleged attempted murder

Victim shot in the upper body in alleged drive-by shooting in Mnisi Section, Katlehong.

Katlehong police have opened a case of attempted murder following a shooting in the Mnisi Section of Katlehong.

The shooting allegedly took place at 6.45am last Sunday morning.

“It is reported that the 24-year-old victim was about to open his shop when he noticed a white Toyota Corolla, with tinted windows, parked a few metres from the shop,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, communications officer for the Katlehong police.

“A man allegedly exited from the vehicle’s passenger seat with a firearm in hand and without a word opened fire on the victim.

“He then climbed back into the vehicle, which sped off.”

The victim sustained wounds to his upper body and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

No one arrests have been made, to date.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza is appealing to the community to come forward with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects responsible for the alleged attack.
