Man wounded after attempting to stop fight

Primrose police apprehend a man on a charge of attempted murder.

While cleaning a church in August Road, Simmerfield, recently a man heard a noise coming from outside.

He went to investigate and found a man allegedly assaulting two women.

“The complainant told police one of the women was his girlfriend while the other was the suspect’s wife,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The man pushed the suspect away from the women.

“The suspect allegedly went inside a nearby house and returned with a firearm which he fired twice into the air.

“He then allegedly pointed the firearm at the complainant and fired a third shot, hitting him in the left leg.”

The complainant managed to run away, and received medical treatment for his injury.

The suspect was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and detained at the Primrose Police Station.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
