Schools welcome visit from police

Elsburg police visit Buhle Park Secondary School, Laerskool Elsburg and Hoërskool Elsburg on the first day of school.

The new academic year was in full swing in the city on Wednesday.

The Elsburg police took the opportunity to visit three local schools in their policing precinct to ensure everything was running smoothly.

The team visited Buhle Park Secondary School, Laerskool Elsburg and Hoërskool Elsburg.

“During our visit to each school we introduced our nominees for our ‘Adopt a Cop’ initiative,” explained Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg police.

“This project aims to root out criminal activities learners are engaging in, as we want to see the learners at our local schools being disciplined at all times.”

All the schools welcomed the police’s visits and thanked them for their work in the previous year and expressed their excitement about working together again.

“The principals and schools’ management teams thanked the police for their commitment and for continually doing searches, talks and visits,” said Phooko.
