Hoërskool Goudrif shines in matric exams

Learners were delighted with their NSC results.

It was smiles all round at Hoërskool Goudrif on Wednesday as matric learners flocked to the school to collect their National Senior Certificate (NSC) results.

The school celebrated a 96.77 per cent pass rate.

“I am happy with the results,” said Johan Greyling, the principal of Hoërskool Goudrif.

“They are much better than the year before last and it’s taken hard work and persistence.

“Children must also realise that they have a role to play and they need to put in the work.”

From the 93 matric learners, 58 (62.4 per cent) attained bachelor’s passes, 29 (31.2 per cent) attained diploma passes and three (3.2 per cent) higher certificate passes.

The school achieved 20 distinctions overall.

The top three learners at the school were:

• AJ van Zyl with five distinctions in English, mathematics, engineering graphics and design, physical sciences and life orientation.

• Rochelle Botha with four distinctions in Afrikaans, English, life orientation and geography.

• Alexzander Knodel with three distinctions in life orientation, geography and life sciences.

The school is looking forward to the new academic year and have 200 Grade Eights expected to start.
